The Resident Fisheries Access Program (RFAP) supports APICDA Community Residents seeking opportunities in the commercial fishing industry. As a CDQ Group, APICDA addresses fisheries support through a variety of programs with the goal to accomplish three things:
1. Provide access to commercial fisheries in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands.
2. Create job opportunities in the Aleutian/Pribilof Region or enhance current fisheries jobs.
3. Build business diversity in the APICDA communities and reduce barriers for resident commercial fishermen.
Aligned with the Resident Fisheries Access Program (RFAP), APICDA offers the IFQ Loan Program to support community residents seeking funding to develop their commercial fishing business with the purchase of halibut or sablefish individual fishing quota (IFQ).
Each loan process is unique to the borrower and requires the interested borrower to contact APICDA for a discovery call to determine if the applicant is a good fit for the program.
Application Period January 1-December 15, 2024.
Eligibility – Akutan, Atka, False Pass, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, St. George and Unalaska
